What is a Purpose Locker?

It is exactly what it sounds like, a locker with a purpose. What Purpose Lockers are is a way to complete our vision of giving the homeless and those in lower-income situations more open access to the resources they need. The lockers will be made of wood, roughly 3X3X6 Feet. More specifically, these lockers will hold hygiene items such as brushes, combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, feminine products, ways a person can keep themselves clean. They will also hold ways to keep warm and dry such as gloves, hats, emergency blankets, and ponchos. We will also stock some non-perishable foods such as canned goods. However, on the outside of these lockers, there will be an abundance of resources for these individuals such as job listing, other organizations and what they offer in aid, numbers of other resources they can access, as well as a trash can to dispose of containers after items are used. We hope that by providing individuals with easier access they can focus on issues to get back on their own two feet again, not just means to survive.
